Dr Peter Modler:

Peter graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine and received his Doctor’s degree in 2003. From 2002-2003 he completed a rotating internship at the small animal department. From 2003 to 2008 he worked at different referral hospitals in Austria and Germany, where he specialized in cardiology and surgery. In 2011 he passed his board exam (small animal specialist), in 2013 he was boarded by the Collegium Cardiologicum (German College of Veterinary Cardiology).

Since 2008 he has been working at the Tierklinik Sattledt, Austria. There he established a cardiology unit offering also interventional cardiology. Yet, he continued doing orthopedic and soft tissue surgery with particular interest in thoracic surgery and portosystemic shunts. In 2014, Peter started his open heart surgery program and is now offering cardiac surgeries including mitral mitral valve repair on a regular basis. Since 2014 he is co-owner of the Tierklinik Sattledt.

Peter’s main interests are open heart surgery, mitral valve disease, as well as congenital heart disease. He is author of a German cardiology textbook and several book chapters. He published numerous articles in national and international journals and has given more than 300 lectures in Austria, Europe, Canada and US.
